6th Grade Newsletter 2019-2020


Quarter 2, Week 2 (November 11-14)

  • Penny War for Veterans this week. Study hall jars are located in the library. Pennies in your jar are positive points, all other change and cash goes against your class points.

  •  Veterans will be attending study hall classes on Tuesday.


Grading Periods for BCMS -

• 1st qtr. midterm Oct. 2nd

• End of 1st qtr. Oct. 31

• Conferences Nov. 4-5 (5:00-8:00)

• 2nd qtr. midterm Dec. 5th

• End of 2nd qtr./1st semester January 23rd

• 3rd qtr. midterm Feb. 27th

• End of 3rd qtr. March 26th

• 4th qtr. midterm April 30th

• End of 4th qtr./2nd semester June 4th


Math 1  (Mrs. Brandy Warren).


  • This week we are finishing Unit 2- Ratios & Proportions lessons 15 & 16. 

  • We will begin Unit 3: Unit Rates and Percentages. 

  • We have 5 Khan Academy lessons due by the end of the day Wednesday.  They are all to help prepare them for the UNIT TEST THURSDAY!. 

  • Unit 2 test is Thursday 11/14. 


English/Language Arts (Mrs. Bethany Blackmore) 

  • After finishing up with our benchmarks on Monday, we will begin exploring effective ways to read informational articles in preparation for writing explanatory essays.

  • We are continuing individualized spelling this week. This week, students are all practicing 7 words that were frequently misspelled in the narrative essays Mrs. Blackmore has been grading. They have a small yellow workbook they should be completing by Thursday (Wednesday this week). It is important that they DOUBLE CHECK their spelling on those words!


Reading (Mrs. Jennifer Ansley)

  • Continue plot line, setting, protagonist, antagonist & conflict 

  • Reading goals



Geography (Mrs. Susan Stolley)

  • 11/11 Finish Mariner’s Compass and Latitude/Longitude Packet Due Tomorrow!

  • 11/12 U.S. Veteran’s Readings

  • 11/13 Chapter 3 Latitude and Longitude Packet #2

  • 11/14 Chapter 3 Latitude and Longitude Packet #2



Science (Mr. Jaak Sanders)

  • Test today, Monday 11/11. 



Band (Mrs. Jessica Hanna)

  • Gathering of the Bands is this Wednesday!  We will leave at 10:30 AM and return at 10:00 PM. If the $10.00 fee has not been turned in please get it to Mrs. Hanna before Wednesday.  Students need their concert black clothes, lunch, music, an instrument, and a pencil. (Advanced Band)

  • Students will be assigned in a video presentations this week to be turned in through Google Classroom by November 21st. (Intermediate Band)


Yearbook (Mrs. Paula Schulte)

  • Viewing practice spreads - looking at layout dos and don’ts


Leadership (Mrs. Kelly Hinthorn)

  • Thursdays are blue and white (Badger) days. 

  • College shirt day is the FIRST WEDNESDAY of each month… November 6th



Art Class (Ms. Dawn Wagner)

  • Beginning Art Students started an Art/Life Science project today, creating a visual food chain. They are looking at the world as Predator and Prey for this lesson, having fun with who eats whom.
